Born and raised in Newcastle, Lydia completed her Bachelor of Laws and Diploma of Legal Practice at the University of Newcastle in 2016, having previously completed a Bachelor of Arts in 2014. In 2017, she was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.

Lydia regularly appears before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, as well as the Children's Court, Local Court and District Court of New South Wales. Lydia confidently and strongly advocates for her clients in and out of Court and handles all matters with compassion and sensitivity.
OUR VISION
Prior to founding Medcalf Legal, Lydia practised in country Victoria for a year before relocating to south coast NSW and practising in Nowra for almost 5 years. She then returned to Newcastle and practised in a high-paced, boutique firm for over a year before making the decision to establish her own practice. Her experience in multiple regional areas has given her exposure to a wide variety of clients and legal issues within the community and further driven her vision for a flexible, progressive firm.

Medcalf Legal was established with a view to offering clients effective, realistic and affordable advice in a relatable and down to earth way. As a working mum, Lydia understands the importance of offering her clients greater flexibility. If you cannot meet at our office, Medcalf Legal can conduct appointments over the phone or online, with after-hours appointments available if necessary. Alternatively, we can meet you at a location convenient to your home or workplace.
